BTSA Range Safety Rules

· All APRA / Steve Johnson Range Rules apply. RSO will wear safety vest.

· The RSO’S directions shall be complied with at all times.

· All firearms must be uncased and cased only at the firing line (while hot), at the RSO ‘s direction. (Black powder excepted. Cap at firing line only.)

· Muzzle direction always down range on the firing line.

· Actions open at all times, except when firing.

· Finger off trigger and outside trigger guard until ready to fire.

· Long guns may be removed. (muzzle-up) from the line on a cease-fire and racked (racks behind tables), depending on RSO’s commands.

· No firearm shall be loaded until commanded by RSO.

· On command cease-fire, stop firing at once, assume the ready position and wait for next command.

· Once the line is called safe (cold), no one shall approach the firing line.

· As part of declaring the line safe, the RSO shall check firearms actions are open, breeches empty and magagines are out, where applicable.

· Brass may be retrieved when the line is safe and no one is down range, or under the direction of the RSO.

· Absolutely no horseplay, careless handling or distracting activity.

· Shooters and the RSO must ensure bullet trajectory is into the berm.

· Ensure correct ammunition for firearm and range is being used.

· No intentional shooting at target frames or other range gear.

· Failure to comply with these rules may result in temporary or permanent suspension from Steve Johnson Range and/or BTSA.
